Healing through the body's own system

Emotional Freedom Techniques — EFT, or tapping — is a gentle, evidence-informed therapeutic approach that combines elements of cognitive therapy with acupressure. By tapping on specific points on the face and body while holding a thought, feeling, or memory in awareness, EFT supports the nervous system in releasing the emotional charge held around difficult experiences.

Unlike approaches that ask you to analyse or reframe what you feel, EFT works at the level of the body — interrupting the stress response directly, and creating space for a more settled, grounded experience of even painful material.

It requires no prior experience, works well alongside other forms of therapy or psychiatric care, and can be used independently between sessions once learned.

Works directly with the nervous system to reduce the emotional intensity around difficult memories, thoughts, or feelings
Gentle and non-invasive — you remain in control throughout; nothing is forced or rushed
Particularly effective for trauma, anxiety, grief, and long-held emotional patterns that have resisted other approaches
Leaves you with a self-help tool you can use independently between sessions and beyond
Can be used alongside psychiatric care, coaching, or as a standalone therapeutic pathway

EFT may be right for you if…

EFT works well for a wide range of people and presenting concerns. It is particularly well-suited to those for whom more cognitive or talk-based approaches have felt incomplete — where the thinking is clear, but the body hasn't caught up.

You are carrying anxiety, grief, or emotional weight that feels stuck or resistant to other approaches
You have experienced trauma — recent or long ago — and want a gentle, body-based way to process it
You want to reduce the emotional charge around specific memories, relationships, or situations
You are currently receiving psychiatric care and would like complementary support for the emotional and somatic dimensions of your experience
You want to learn a self-help tool you can use between sessions and in everyday life
This is not a substitute for…
Psychiatric assessment, diagnosis, or medication management — those services are available separately through the clinic
Crisis support — if you are in immediate distress, please contact Samaritans (116 123) or NHS 111
